[Lesson 7] Layering Colors and Exploring with your Brushes
So, how do you want to start making money as a fashion illustration?
Did you like one of the ten options I gave you in the last lesson? Do you have something else in mind? Remember, this can be a two party conversation, so if you want you can share your thoughts and doubts with me 😀
Okay, in this lesson we’re going back to the basics again, because if you’re here, it means you’re a beginner. If you’re a beginner, I want you to be prepared, and I want you to feel confident about using your watercolors set. And that preparation and confidence start with the basics.
So, if you’re ready, let’s get started!
BRUSHES AND LAYERING
Brushes are super important; they allow you to put the paint on the paper and do it in the way you want the color to be on there: a big wash, a tiny detail, a thin line. So, it’s vital that you know your brushes and what you can do with them.
For this lesson, it’s your time to explore with all your brushes. Loosen your hand, and move the brush in different directions while you practice.
Layering is one of my favorite techniques. I use it not only when I create with watercolors, but also when I use markers, acrylics, oils, and gouache. There’s some magic in layering color that gives your illustration depth, movement, and texture.
So, in this video, you’ll see the very basics of layering, and how the piece looks whether you layer on wet or dry paper.
Hope you like today’s video, and hope to see your progress 😀
