[Lesson 18] Denim

One way to make your fashion illustrations more beautiful and interesting is by adding texture to them, so in this and the following lessons, you’re gonna see how to create different kinds of textures, separately. And, you’re gonna start with denim.

Denim comes in all kinds of blue and other colors, and you can practice with all the blues that you want repeating the exercise with each different blue.

This time, I show you the step by step with a very light blue.

Before Starting

To have a perfect learning-practice day, make sure you are ready:

  1. Gather all your materials, and set them in your favorite place to work with watercolors. Check out the materials list for this lesson below the video.
  2. You can use a square piece of paper like me, or you can use any kind of shape and size. Here, the paper’s size is 12cmx12cm.
  3. Determine the colors you want for the fabric.
  4. Put on your earbuds with your favorite music on, and now you’re ready!

Let’s start!

Denim

Materials:

Watercolor paper: I used 12cmx12cm 180grs/m2

Watercolors: cerulean blue, pthalo blue, and payne’s gray.

Acrylics: titanium white.

Other: Water, brushes (medium and thin), and a mixing palette.

What’s your favorite denim color?

I LOVE super light and super dark jeans, so contradictory I know, but they look GORGEOUS 😀
