[Challenge 1] Starting with Watercolors
Are you new to watercolors?
If you’re in this course, I bet you’re a beginner. And I’m sure you’re as excited to get started with watercolors as you are insecure about how to make learning this new skill something sustainable and easy to do.
When you’re learning something new, you need three things:
- Keep accountable to learning your new skill
- The proper guidance to make it as smooth and easy as possible for you to learn this new skill
- Make progress day-by-day, week-by-week. It doesn’t matter if you can’t work six hours in a row learning and improving your new skill, baby steps also count – a lot 🙂
And, that’s why I created this first challenge, to keep you accountable, guide you along the way, and let you know you’re moving forward during your first month on the course Watercolors for Fashion Illustration.
I’m so excited to getting started! So, let’s see all the details!
How it works
This challenge is made for you either you want to share your work with the whole world or only with me. So nothing can stop you from keeping accountable and making progress. You can participate in two ways:
1 | Via Instagram
Every day of the following 30 days, post a photo of your watercolors practice on Instagram using the prompt list below as your daily subject. You can follow the lesson below each prompt to complete it.
You MUST include #WatercolorsForFashionIllustration in your caption – also, feel free to include #StartingWithWatercolors, but it’s not required.
Please don’t post photos of work you’ve already completed – the point is to show up that day and create for the sake of learning and practice! Feel free to tag me so I can see your daily pieces – I’m @imkarenavila 🙂
2 | Via Email
If you want to keep your work secret, you can send me your progress via email, yay!
I know sometimes daily practice is not possible, and that sometimes we feel vulnerable to show our beginner’s work. So, you can send me via email your weekly progress.
Complete at least 7 prompts for the week – this will help you make huge progress 😉 – and send them my way with your thoughts or questions. I promise the simple act of sharing your work will make it easier for you to keep moving forward and improving along the way.
My email is: karenavila@fashionstepbystep.com
And please, to make it easy for me to spot your emails use as subject: Watercolors for Fashion Illustration – Challenge 1 – Week X
Here’s your prompt list. I recommend pinning it to your Pinterest account, or saving it to your phone/desktop for quick access!
LOTS of LOVE!
