[Lesson 1] Your dream business vision
Hi! Welcome to Thriving as Fashion Creative, and to this first module Embracing Yourself to Create your Dream Business Vision.
I’m so happy to be here, and I’m so pumped that you’re here because we’re going to make awesome + great things happen!
So let’s get started!
Remember when you dreamt big during the pre-homework?
Well, in this lesson you’ll dream a little more, but also you’ll get detailed about your dream business.
Thriving as Fashion Creative is all about making big + beautiful businesses happen. It is all about creating meaning + fulfillment + thrive in your life and your business. It is all about coming up with and building your dream business, the one that keeps you up late at night, the one you daydream during your day job or between client’s work, the one that will allow you to live the inspired life and have the freedom that you want.
That big + beautiful + dream business starts right here, with you thinking about it and making it happen one step at a time.
You big crazy idea
What’s your big crazy idea? What’s that thing that you want and keep to yourself? What’s the best + biggest + craziest version of your dream business?
We all have big + crazy plans for our businesses, but sometimes we shy away from them thinking that they’ll never happen. Nothing farther from the truth. The reason dreams don’t happen is because the person doesn’t believe in them or is not willing to take action.
But you’re committed, you believe in your dreams, and you’re here to give it all to your business. And the first step is to start depicting that big crazy idea that is your dream business.
Think of all the aspects that involve and surround your business: money, time, projects, offerings, clients, places, scale, and tasks. This way it’ll become more tangible. If you did your pre-homework, complement it with the following questions.
1 | Money
- How much do you want to earn? Per month? Per week? Per hour? Per project? Per product?
- How much do you want to charge for your products and services?
2 | Time + Schedule
- How many hours do you want to devote to your business? Per week? Per day?
- How many days off do you want per week or month?
- Do you want vacations? When? Where? And how many days?
3 | Projects + Offerings
- What kind of projects do you want to work on?
- What kind of things do you want to do? And what things do you want to avoid?
- What kind of products or services do you want to offer? What are the most exciting to you?
4 | Clients
- What kind of clients do you want to have?
- What kind of brands do you want to serve as a service provider?
- What kind of customers do you want to attract + sell to as a product based business owner?
- If you’ve had the chance to work with someone or someone has bought your products already, describe your favorite people.
5 | Places
- Where do you want to work from? Your home studio? The coffee shop? A rented office?
- Where do you want to live?
- Where do you want to go?
- Do you want to travel? Or do you prefer settling in a place you love?
6 | Scale
- How big do you want your business to be?
- Do you want to be recognized worldwide? Or do you want to keep your business local?
- Do you want to work alone? Or do you prefer having a team? How many persons do you want to be involved?
7 | Tasks
- What kind of tasks do you want to take care of? Creative tasks only? What about the admin + production (if needed) functions?
- Who will take care of the content + marketing strategies? Who will implement them?
- If you want to take care only of the creative + visionary side of business, who will take care of the admin + production side? Your team?
- Will you hire a virtual assistant? (You can create a goal that involves hiring people or building your team if that’s something you’re not able to do just now)
Make it a little crazier
Is your idea of your dream business crazy enough? What if you make it a little crazier?
We tend to hold ourselves for fear of failure, or because of thoughts like: ‘well, I don’t see the point of this, what if nothing of this happens?’.
The point of this is that you’re opening yourself up for the opportunities, you’re declaring out loud what you want, you’re making connections between where you are now and where you want to be, and with that, you’re helping your brain to come up with solutions.
Be okay in working with beta for a while, to make your dream business happen, you have to be patient + diligent + take action day-by-day. Each step will bring you closer to that dream business vision, but also each step will give you more tools + knowledge to make that vision that you have even better + bigger + crazier.
For example, I want this program to be the go-to option for all fashion creatives. I want it to help them build a thriving business from scratch whether they’re just starting out or have a couple of years in business. My goal is to help them build a business that is meaningful + fulfilling + profitable for them, a business that they love + feel proud of, and a business that is irresistible to their dream clients. But, as you know there are variables that I may not be aware of yet, so I need to be patient until those variables come up during this round so I can tweak + improve the lessons, and deliver more modules if required on the next rounds.
So, don’t be overwhelmed by your big dreams and crazy ideas. Each and every one of them is possible because you’ll break them down into bite-sized steps, you’ll take them one by one, and you’ll celebrate each milestone towards your biggest goal. Use the system described in your mini-course Goal setting for an inspired life + a dream business.
Now, what’s the smallest version of your big crazy idea that you could make happen right now?
You see? I won’t let you drown in overwhelm. When we’re working hard to make big things + crazy dreams happen it’s easy to find yourself consumed with chasing that big ultimate dream. Deep down you know it doesn’t really work like that because you feel drained + frustrated + burnt out.
There are lots of small steps to take along the way before you bring your big vision to life. And these steps are those that will actually help you achieve those bigger + crazier goals. So own them, and figure out what’s the smallest version of your big crazy idea that you could start to make happen right now?
Maybe your smallest version of your big dream business is landing your first three clients. Or maybe it is to be featured in a couple of magazines. Or maybe is to sell out your first collection.
Whatever it is, make sure it is small enough that you don’t feel overwhelmed + crazy (big) enough that it is fun and challenging for you.
You Dream Business Vision
An idea is just the bare bones of your business, where the magic happens is when you dig deeper and put it all together.
Your dream business is composed by:
- Your DEEPEST WHY
- The passions + skills + talents you put on the table
- Your creative values + intentions
- Who are you for? And why do you care about them?
- The WHAT (your offerings; what you offer + how you deliver it)
- The HOW (your marketing)
We’ll be revealing each and every one of these points in the following modules, they may change to what you think of them already, and they will evolve as you + your business do.
And you can use this worksheet/layout to see all the components at once in one page. As you go through the modules, complete the worksheet, and you’ll have your dream business vision in one place for you to remind your big picture vision, adjust your track if you go off, and keep motivated along the way.
So, let’s get started!
Now print your worksheets, depict your big dream business, and let’s get this journey started!
Then, come to the community, and share your dream business, and any doubts or fears that may have popped up, or just say hi!
