[Lesson 5] Learning the Basics
How did you go mixing your colors?
Did you discovered all the color possibilities you have with your watercolor’s set?
Well, today you’ll continue learning the basics. And for that, I have two videos for you. Each video shows you 12 of my favorite watercolor basic techniques, in total you’ll learn 24 basic techniques that you can use over and over again to create your fashion illustrations, render fabrics, and give gorgeous textures to your work.
Are you ready?
BASIC TECHNIQUES I
When I started using watercolors, I loved to learn all kinds of basic techniques. Every time I found out about a new basic technique I imagined how I could use it to create my illustrations – I still do!
And the reason I love basic techniques is because they’re so versatile and useful to create different textures for the outfits of my illustrations. You can use the basic techniques to create fur, chiffon, satin, or any other texture – and all of them look fantastic!
To complement these videos, I have a printable for you! You can download it through the button below, or through your index 😉
BASIC TECHNIQUES II
You’ll need a couple of more tools than the last time, but you’ll have so much fun.
While you practice with these techniques try to imagine what kind of fabrics and textures you can create with them, I’m sure you’ll have several ideas like glazing could work to create sheer fabrics, or masking could be awesome to create striped and polka dot fabrics.
Finally, you can use the same printable from the button above for this video 🙂
Enjoy!
